Buckeye Health Plan has awarded grants to four Ohio organizations that assist community members with health and wellness education and programs.
Buckeye Grant Recipients:
- Adaptive Sports Program of Ohio (Northeast Ohio) promotes the health and wellness of individuals with physical disabilities, providing competitive and recreational adaptive sport opportunities throughout Ohio. The Buckeye Grant will be used toward interscholastic athletic activities for those living with disabilities, including sponsorship of the organization’s Interscholastic Wheelchair Basketball Championship.
- After School All-Stars Ohio (Columbus and Toledo, Ohio) provides comprehensive after-school academic support, enrichment activities and health and fitness programs that instill the confidence and resilience children need for success in school and life. The Buckeye Grant will fund Buckeye Family Wellness Events at eight schools.
- Elizabeth's New Life Center (Dayton, Ohio) is one of the nation’s largest pregnancy resource centers and assists thousands of clients annually through intervention, prevention, education, and support services. The Buckeye Grant will fund a prenatal care and a maternal health initiative.
- Simon Kenton Council of Boy Scouts of America (Central and Southern Ohio) is one of the largest councils in the nation, sponsoring more than 600 Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Venturing Crews and Exploring Posts. The Buckeye Grant will fund transportation for low-income youth to attend scouting activities.
“Our Grant Program is an extension of our vision—to transform the health of the community, one person at a time,” said Bruce Hill, President and CEO of Buckeye Health Plan. “We believe caring for the health of the community extends outside of our walls. We partner with many great organizations to connect services to individual needs. This Grant Program enables Buckeye to make a real impact on lives and the overall health of the communities we serve.”
Buckeye Grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations that are working to build healthier communities, address the issues of poverty or impact social determinants of health for Ohio.
