How to Renew Your Medicaid Coverage in Ohio

Did you know that Ohio Medicaid members must renew their benefits every year to keep their coverage? Keep getting quality healthcare with extra benefits and rewards from Buckeye Health Plan by renewing your benefits before the deadline.

Members are encouraged to:

1. Update your contact information - three easy ways:

  •  Call 1-844-640-6446
    • Help is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET.
  • Online at the Ohio Benefits website.
    • After logging in, they should click the “Access my Benefits” tile, then click “Report a Change to my Case” from the drop down and follow the prompts.

Members with an existing Ohio Benefits Self-Service Portal (SSP) account can report changes online. After logging in, click the “Access my Benefits” file, then click “Report a Change to my Case” from the drop down and follow the prompts.

  •  Visit your County Department of Job and Family Services (CDJFS) office.

Ohio Medicaid members can find their local JFS by selecting their county from the Ohio Department of Medicaid website.

Visit to complete renewals, upload documents, and find out the status of your coverage by logging into your Ohio Benefits Self-Service Portal. Don’t have an account? You can follow the easy steps to create one today!

Buckeye cannot process your renewal, but we can explain the process, answer your questions and help you fill out your renewal packet over the phone. Call Buckeye member services today at 1-866-246-4358 (TDD/TTY: 1-800-750-0750).

Reminder: Please make sure you have your social security number or your Medicaid Recipient (MMIS) ID number. Also make sure that your local JFS office has your current address and phone number.

Children may be eligible for coverage even if their parent/legal guardian is no longer eligible. Members should still complete and return their renewal packet(s) even if they think their family won’t be eligible, so that coverage can be properly assessed for all household members.

2. Check your mail and respond to requests for information from ODJFS – RIGHT AWAY!

If you receive a letter stating that it’s time to renew, or that ODJFS needs more information, you should respond right away. The ODJFS needs to hear from members to review their Medicaid eligibility. Members who do not respond to renewal letters or requests for information risk losing their Medicaid coverage, even if they are eligible.

You can find out more by calling 1-844-640-6446 or by contacting your local ODJFS. Ohio Medicaid members can find their County ODJFS office by selecting their county from the dropdown found at the Ohio Department of Medicaid website.
